Create a SignUpGenius List
 
1 - Go to the SignUpGenius website.  Note: please see information below about Class Parties for information about duplicating previously created sign-up lists
 
2 - Click on the Login/Join menu in the upper right corner and enter email and password to log-in (fill in required fields to create an account first if you have not already done so).
 
3 - Click on the Create a Sign Up menu in the upper right corner.
 
4 - Fill in the appropriate information on the General Details tab and click Continue. 
 --- Click on the button next to Create a new group called and enter a group name (Mrs. Barru's 2nd Grade Class, Plant Sale Volunteers, etc.)
 --- Enter a title in the Title of Sign Up (Halloween Party, Plant Sale Shifts, etc.)
 --- Include an explanation in Description (Please indicate which item below you would like to bring to Mrs. Barru's Halloween Party..., etc.).  Note:  please see information below about Class Parties for additional information to include in Description.
 
5 - Choose a category on the Theme tab to browse options, then click on the button next to the theme you would like to choose and click Continue.
 
6 - Click on the button next to the type of event you would like to choose on the Dates/Times tab, fill in the appropriate information and click Continue.
 --- One-time (bringing snacks for a Halloween Party, bringing a dish for Teacher Conference Meal, etc.)
 --- Recurring (scheduling volunteers to work weekly at the Primary Store, water daily for Beautification, etc.)
 --- Time Slots (scheduling volunteers to work shifts at the Craft Sale, Plant Sale, etc.)
 
7 - Fill in the appropriate information on the Slots tab and click Continue.  Use the # Wanted field to indicate the number of volunteers needed for each item (for ex.: if you would like 2 people to bring Drinks, select 2 on that line).  Note: please see information below about Class Parties for additional information about Slots.
 
8 - Fill in the appropriate information on the Settings tab and click Continue (by selecting Yes next to Email, you will be able to contact people who have signed up if additional coordination is necessary).
 
9 - Review your sign-up on the Preview tab and click Proceed to Invite & Publish or Edit Further, as appropriate.
 
10 - Click on Take My Sign up Live but Don't Send E-mails on the Invite/Publish tab if you are sending the message to all parents in a class.  Look for the generated URL listed in the middle of the page under To view your sign up page, go to:  and copy and paste the URL into an e-mail to Jarrod Skulavik and Patty Navarez (you can also copy it by viewing the sign-up, right-clicking on the URL, selecting copy, then right-clicking where you want to include it in the e-mail and selecting paste).  It will then be added to this website and distributed via School Messenger because of privacy rules (rather than distributing an invite automatically).
  
Note:  refer to the Frequently Asked Questions on the right side of most tabs for additional information (Can I save my work and come back later, etc.).
 

Class Parties
 
The Description (on the General Details tab) should include the following:
 --- Date and time - Halloween Class Parties for the 2015/16 school year will be on Friday, 10/30, and will include a Fun Day at 12:45, Parade at 2:00, and Class Parties at 2:15.
 --- Requested volunteer RSVP - note that parents can indicate if they would like to attend and help at the party in the comment field after they sign-up to bring an item and click on submit
 --- Requested response date - typically a week prior to the party to allow for any additional coordination that maybe necessary
 --- Room Parent name and contact info. - for any questions or requests for additional information
 --- Number of students to plan for - refer to class numbers below and include a note asking that contributions be sent to school on the day of the party or shortly before (if non-perishable)

 1st Grade  Ms. Barker - 24 students  Mrs. Stites/Mrs. Ziporin - 22 students
 2nd Grade  Mrs. Barru - 23 students  Mrs. Merlo - 22 students
 3rd Grade  Mrs. Raley - 23 students  Mrs. Stone - 22 students
 4th Grade  Mrs. Gordon - 22 students  Mrs. LeVett (4th/5th combo class) - 24 students
 5th Grade  Mr. Silva - 24 students  Mr. LeVett (4th/5th combo class) - 24 students
 6th Grade  Ms. Aragon - 24 students  Mrs. Martinez 24 students
 
Slots are typically included for the following (based on ~25 students, feel free to adjust up or down accordingly):
 --- Drinks - 2 slots
 --- Fruit or Veggies - 3 slots
 --- Healthy Snack - 4 slots
 --- Plates and Napkins - 1 slot
 --- Edible Treat - 4 slots
 --- Game or Craft - 1 slot
 
If the invitation is going to all parents in a class, click on Take My Sign Up Live But Don't Send Emails.  Copy and paste the generated URL into an e-mail and send it to Jarrod Skulavik so it can be added to this website and then distributed via School Messenger because of privacy rules (rather than distributing an invite automatically).  You can also do so by viewing the sign-up, right-clicking on the URL, selecting copy, then right-clicking where you want to include the URL in an e-mail and selecting paste).
 
Sign-up lists can be duplicated by logging into your account and scrolling down to Sign Ups I've Created.  Click on Duplicate a Sign Up, choose the sign-up to copy, and make changes as appropriate.  This should allow Room Parents who have created a sign-up for one Class Party to duplicate it for other Class Parties throughout the year.
